1. Tell me about yourself
Estructura sencilla: presente, pasado, futuro.
"I'm a digital marketing specialist with four years of experience in e-commerce. I started in content, then moved into paid acquisition, where I manage campaigns end to end. I'm now looking for a role where I can work on a larger scale, which is exactly what this position offers."
Evita empezar con "I was born in...". Entra directamente en lo profesional.
2. Why do you want to work here?
"I've been following your expansion into West Africa, and I've worked on similar markets. I'd like to bring that experience to a team that is building something new rather than maintaining what exists."
Nunca digas "because you're a great company". Suena vacío.
3. Why are you leaving your current job?
"I've learned a lot in my current role, but the scope has become quite narrow. I'm looking for a position with more ownership and more contact with clients."
Nunca critiques a un antiguo jefe. Es la trampa más común.
4. What are your strengths?
"I'd say my main strength is structure. When I joined my last team, reporting was manual and took a full day each week. I built a template that cut it down to a couple of hours."
Una cualidad sin ejemplo es una afirmación. Con un ejemplo, es una prueba.
5. What is your greatest weakness?
"I tend to take on too much myself instead of delegating. I've started setting clearer boundaries on what is mine and what belongs to the team, and it has made projects run faster."
Evita "I'm a perfectionist" o "I work too hard". Los reclutadores lo escuchan a diario.
6. Tell me about a challenge you faced at work
"Situation: our main supplier stopped delivering two weeks before a product launch. Task: I had to find an alternative without delaying the date. Action: I contacted three backup suppliers and negotiated a short-term contract. Result: we launched on time, with a small increase in cost that we absorbed in the margin."
Prepara tres historias STAR.
7. Tell me about a time you worked in a team
Muestra tu rol concreto, no solo "we did".
"I worked with a team of five on a client migration. My role was to coordinate between the technical team and the client. I set up a weekly check-in so nobody discovered a problem too late."
8. How do you handle pressure or tight deadlines?
El reclutador busca un método, no heroísmo.
"I prioritise. I list what has to be done, I identify what actually moves the deadline, and I tell my manager early if something has to shift. I'd rather flag a risk than deliver late without warning."
9. Tell me about a mistake you made
Asume el error y después muestra el aprendizaje.
"I once sent a report to a client without a final check, and there was an error in the figures. I called the client the same day, corrected it, and since then I never send anything externally without a second pair of eyes."
No elijas un error grave. Elige un error que hayas corregido.
10. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Muestra ambición, pero coherente con el puesto.
"I'd like to have deep expertise in this area and to be mentoring more junior colleagues. I'm less focused on a title than on the level of responsibility."
11. Why should we hire you?
"You're looking for someone who can manage both the technical side and the client relationship. That combination is exactly what I've been doing for the last three years, and it's rarer than it sounds."
12. What are your salary expectations?
"I'd like to understand the full scope first. Based on my research for similar roles, I'd be looking at a range between X and Y, but I'm open to discussing the whole package."
Prepara tus cifras de antemano. Dudar aquí causa mala impresión.
13. How do you handle feedback or criticism?
"I ask questions to make sure I understand what exactly needs to change. Feedback that stays vague doesn't help anyone, so I try to turn it into something concrete I can act on."
14. Tell me about a conflict with a colleague
Nunca digas "I never have conflicts". No resulta creíble.
"A colleague and I disagreed on the priority of two projects. We each presented our reasoning to the team lead with the numbers behind it, and we followed the decision. The disagreement was about the work, not the person."
15. Do you have any questions for us?
Ten siempre dos o tres preguntas preparadas. No tenerlas es señal de poco interés.
- "What does success look like in this role after six months?"
- "How is the team organised today, and is it expected to grow?"
- "What are the biggest challenges the person in this role will face?"
El vocabulario que marca la diferencia
Algunas expresiones para memorizar: suenan naturales y te ahorran tiempo:
- "I'd say that..." para introducir una opinión
- "To give you an example..." para enlazar con una ilustración
- "That's a good question, let me think for a second" para ganar tres segundos
- "Could you rephrase that, please?" si no has entendido
- "What I took away from that experience is..." para concluir una anécdota
Leer respuestas no basta.
